Salt accumulation in soils under furrow and drip irrigation using modified waters in Central Iran

The objectives of this study were i) to characterize the water and soils under different managements, ii) evaluate sustainability using hypersaline water, iii) assess possible solutions prevent more degradation soil resources. Field laboratory analysis samples eight pedons 128 surface taken from grid in four pre-determined land uses; pistachio orchard abandoned, with furrow irrigation, wheat maize cropping drip irrigation. area, 170 ha, comprised two distinct parent materials including marls (max. ECe >100 dS/m) alluviums >60 dS/m). Abandoning lands caused salinity increasing due lack leaching by irrigation water. maximum increase was abandoned use (EC e =98 dS/m), where trees had been removed there is no followed plantation (EC=11 34 (EC=11-19 minimum rise mixing freshwater saline therefore better quality (EC=3 dS/m at layer 17 next layer). Land change agriculture increased need for because arid climate it mainly supplied groundwater deep wells. Using rock-water reaction salinity, decreased significant effect on compare drip. Comparison mean values indicators 2018 showed that has 3-6 times least two-fold compared 2002. calculated also proved resources degraded present types are not sustainable. Possible could be minimize agriculture, mixed freshwater, remove salt crusts surface.
